Noel Hanley
Chairman, Response Group

Noel was co-founder of Response Engineering in 1998 and is currently Chairman of the Response Group which includes Response Engineering and Response Civil. Noel shapes, monitors and controls corporate strategy for the group and directs the planning of the future growth of the organisation.

Noel is an environmental engineer by training who now leads the Response Group. He has wide-ranging expertise in the water services industry and has developed Response as a leading DBO service provider to the public sector. Noel has played a key role in the delivery of turnkey projects for major industrial and municipal clients.

Tom McDonald
General Manager

Tom joined the Response Group in 2006. As General Manager of Engineering, he has overall responsibility for the design and construction of water and wastewater treatment projects for municipal, industrial and commercial clients throughout Ireland.

Tom directs the day to day running of his projects and he is responsible for developing and maintaining key client relationships. He has wideranging experience in successfully delivering projects which have been procured by DBO, DB and traditional contracts. Tom is also responsible for the development of working relationships with potential partners to undertake DBO projects.

Sean Murphy
Tendering Director

Sean joined Response Engineering in 2000 and was subsequently appointed a director of the company in 2002. Sean directs the activities of the tendering department and has overall responsibility for preliminary design, prequalification, tendering and sales. Sean is widely experienced in the tender processes relevant to both public and private sector project procurement and has successfully tendered for municipal projects procured by both traditional and DBO contracts.

Sean is a process engineer with over twelve years experience in the water and wastewater treatment industry. He is responsible for developing and maintaining both client and potential joint venture partner relationships. Sean manages the day to day activities of a busy and successful tendering division and provides support to the procurement, installation and operational divisions of the Response Group.

Simon Longley
Technical Director

Simon joined Response in 2004 and as Technical Director he has been responsible for the development and management of projects in the environmental sector in Ireland and the UK for over 35 years.

Simon has demonstrated continued success in the delivering of environmental projects throughout his career ranging from power generation using mine gas to complex chemical industrial wastewater treatment plants to wind energy schemes.

Hans Gethke
Process Director

Hans joined Response in 2004 and is Process Director with responsibility for design & process development in wastewater and sludge treatment for industrial & municipal effluents. He has successfully developed wastewater and sludge treatment solutions based on biological, physical and chemical processes. His operational expertise has been successfully employed in problem solving at existing malfunctioning ETP’s.

Hans has demonstrated unparalleled expertise in environmental protection technology for his entire career which commenced in academic research (Diploma and Dr-Ing) in Germany through to his recognition as an acknowledged expert in wastewater and sludge treatment internationally. In more than 35 years professional experience he has designed significant industrial and municipal ETP’s worldwide including installations in Europe, Egypt, China, USA, Brazil, Chile and Puerto Rico.

Neil Ronan
Operations Manager & Contract Finance

Neil joined Response Engineering in 2007 as with responsibility for revenue (settling final accounts) and for managing retentions. Since then he has moved to head up the Contract Finance Department and has recently assumed the position of interim manager of the Operations Division of Response Engineering.

Neil is a successful Project Manager who has worked on many high profile projects such as Cork International Airport and the County Hall redevelopment in Cork prior to joining Response.

Terry Thompson
EHQS Manager

Terry joined the Response Group in 2008 as Health and Safety Officer to the Group and provides support and review inputs on all H & S aspects of the Group’s activities. Terry ensures that all procedures relating to health and safety comply with the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act and OHSAS 18001, which is the health and safety standard to which the Group is accredited.Terry also ensures that our quality ,ISO 9001 and environmental ISO 14001 standards  are adhered to and maintained.

He provides Health and Safety support to all divisions within our organisation at the design and construction stages through to the operations of our plants.He  is responsible for site inspections and audits and assesses sub-contractor competence. Terry produces Accident Frequency Rate (AFR) Reports on a regular basis to assist management in monitoring safetly performance.

Terry has over fifteen years experience in Ireland and the UK in all aspects of site management and in the implementation of health and safety regulations for the construction and engineering sectors. He has received certification from Nebosh, Nifast and Fas in training and education, manual handling instruction, scaffolding inspection and he is a safe-pass tutor. He is widely experienced in the development of safety statements and risk assessments.

Pat Aherne       
Head of Purchasing

Pat joined Response Engineering in 2001 and has extensive experience in purchasing, design and installation for the wastewater and water services sector. He is currently Head of Purchasing for the company with responsibility for sourcing, purchasing and stock control. Pat directs all negotiations and agreements with suppliers and sub-contractors. He is responsible for compiling approved-supplier lists and for negotiation of credit terms
