Official Opening of Sandyford High Level Water Supply Scheme


The Sandyford High Level Water Supply Scheme was officially opened by the Minister of the Environment, Heritage and Local Government, Mr. Phil Hogan on September 12th 2011.

This investment with an overall value of €27.5m will mean improved security of supply and enhanced water quality through additional rechlorination facilities for over 25,000 residents in the Sandyford, Ballyogan, Stepaside and Kilternan areas as well as commercial users from Sandyford Business Park to Carrickmines. 

The scheme features two new pumping stations (one adjacent to Stillorgan reservoir, the other adjacent to Sandyford Hall Estate) which were mechanically & electrically supplied, installed & commissioned by Response Engineering Ltd. These pumping stations have been designed to a high specification and comprise of the following:-
• New potable water pumping stations at Sandyford & Stillorga inc. centrifugal water pumps, surge control, pipework & lifting e/q at each station
• On-site Electrochlorination Plant (OSEC)
• Controls & SCADA
• 19 No. Telemetry Outstations

Speaking at the opening, An Cathaoirleach, Cllr John Bailey, remarked “This development marks a major investment in the Dun-Laoghaire County Council’s water supply infrastructure, with over 25,000 residents directly benefitting from this project.”
